Chili Peppers

Chili Peppers are used worldwide to treat many conditions, such as to kill intestinal parasites, to increase fertility, to cure arthritis and prevent cardiovascular disease.  The ancients used Chili Peppers for their pain-killing properties. Cayenne Pepper is said to be an excellent remedy for conjunctivitis, and a cure for toothache.

1 medium sized Chili Peppers contains:

Calories:    20
Carbohydrate:    4.5 grams
Potassium:    150 milligrams
Vitamin A:    30%
Vitamin C:    278%

Chili Peppers have such health benefits as:

– the ability to act as an expectorant and decongestant
– they help to dissolve blood clots
– lower bloody pressure and blood cholesterol
– relieves pain

The chemical called ‘capsaicin’ is the element that makes chilli peppers hot and spicy.  The capsaicin in chili peppers acts as an expectorant and has been prescribed to emphysema and chronic bronchitis sufferers.

Researchers have found that dry red pepper and pure capsaicin lowers blood cholesterol by suppressing the liver’s production of cholesterol.

Chili Peppers improve cholesterol levels and the body’s blood-clotting abilities.  They are a pain-relieving analgesic and can also help the body to burn calories faster, assisting with weight loss.

Caution:

Red Chili Peppers stimulate gastric acid which may aggravate ulcers.
