Oranges

Since ancient times Oranges have been used to treat bronchial and asthmatic conditions and to purify and stimulate the blood.  Oranges are also known to be a general tonic for the whole body.

1 serving size of 1 medium orange contains:
Calories:    65
Carbohydrate:    16.3 grams
Potassium:    250 grams
Vitamin C:    100%

Oranges contain health benefits as they:
–  lower the risk of some cancers
–  have virus fighting abilities
–  lowers blood cholesterol
–  fight arterial plague

Oranges are an excellent source of Vitamin C which is necessary for healthy bones, muscles, teeth and gums.

Vitamin C is also know to be a cancer inhibitor as it blocks the harmful effects of powerful carcinogens called ‘nitrosamines’.

Studies have shown that oranges can lower blood cholesterol due to the pectin in the skin and membranes.  Lower cholesterol leads to less chance of arterial plague build up.

Natural anti-viral compounds in orange juice lessens respiratory symptoms.  Substances in the peel of the orange can kill fungi and bacteria.
