Tea has been used for hundreds of years as a cure for all things from headaches to bronchitis.

Tea has health benefits as it:
– reduces atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries)
– strengthens the capillaries
– lowers blood pressure
– contains chemicals that prevents cancers (in animals)
– destroys viruses
– lowers cholesterol
– reduces fever
– reduces cavities
Tea on its own (without milk and sugar) contains folic acid, potassium and fluoride. Tea is also full of substances called ‘tannins’ and studies have indicated that they have the ability to fight viruses such as influenza, dysentery and viral hepatitis. One particular tannin called ‘catechin’ is good for suppressing tumours.
Studies have found that the ‘catechins’ in tea relieve high blood pressure and headaches, prevents thrombosis (the formation of blood clots), strengthens blood vessels, prevents the build-up of plaque and relieves headaches.
Green tea has greater protective and therapeutic benefits than black tea, and the stronger the brew, the greater the health benefits.
